Digital Radio Switchover is coming.
Will your car be ready?

Driving
Driving around in your car (or van or truck), listening to your favourite radio station on your FM Car Radio can be a very pleasant way to make a tedious journey more enjoyable.
It certainly makes the time pass quickly, particularly in heavy traffic, doesn't it?
Things are going to change
But this could all change in 2015 - which isn't that far off - when the UK Radio System 'goes digital'!

Can you imagine not being able to listen to the latest News from the BBC or your local station or not being able to hear your favourite presenter playing those great tracks he almost seems to know you love?
Well, that could be exactly what will happen in 2015!
Deadline
The stated aim is for DAB Radio to take over from FM in 2015 and it does seem likely that this deadline will be met.
True, there are some 'die-hard' organisations attempting to delay this date until sometime after 2015, but they are likely to be unsuccessful in this endeavour, as the move to DAB Digital Radio is well underway now!
A bit like King Canute trying to hold back the tide, almost!

After the Switchover
After the Digital Radio Switchover takes place and DAB becomes the 'Standard' Radio Broadcast System there will be few, if any, FM stations still broadcasting.
Quite an alarming thought, isn't it? All you will have to listen to on your FM radio will be weak, scratchy foreign stations or your CDs, if your radio is also a CD player.

Can you imagine the 'last minute rush' to upgrade all those car radios as 2015 gets nearer?
Prices
Prices of DAB Radios will almost certainly rise (supply and demand) and the charges of having the necessary installation work will probably go 'through the roof'.

Should you wait?
Putting it off could mean not being able to listen to your radio driving to and from work and think how that will affect the value of your car!

And who would want to buy a car that needs it's radio upgrading?
Today could be a good day to start thinking about upgrading to DAB Digital Radio.
